Birthday
I could have another birthday..... It has become usual that I celebrate it whole September, especially these two days: 18th in Japan Time and Hawaii Time (one day behind). I remember I wanted to grow quickly as a child so birthday was so exciting. In my 20s till mid 30s, I didn’t really care about my age and birthday. Then birthday has been a day to appreciate life recently. I remember I was kind of confused and uncomfortable last year by thinking about Confucius’ word "at forty I became free of doubt" but I was calm this year.
Thank to my friends, I received so many birthday wishes. As I read and thought of each person, I felt like I was looking at an epitome of life. Everyone has different background, facing various stages in life, and have different natures and thoughts. However somehow we connect..... And they are the ones who help me going. I’ve never been thankful for life as strong as I feel this year. Probably this year’s natural disaster in Japan makes me feel this way.
By the way, I attended my friend’s wedding on my birthday. They decided to get married two days prior and invited me. They were engaged, but decided on hold wedding while the bride’s father was visiting Maui from Japan. It wasn’t big, but a heartwarming wedding. The bride offered me her bridal bouquet, which makes this year promising..... This one will be a good one :)

It’s my name!
OMG my friend, an amazing calligrapher, wrote my name in image of Hawaii for my birthday. It looks like wave, a canoe, a whale's jump, a cross, the lively vibration of Hawaii..... Mahalo nui loa (thank you very much) Eiji-san. I love this!
