Ford Island

This is such a personal, extra story though, Pearl Harbor is called Shinju-wan in Japanese. Wan is the word for bay, not harbor. For this reason, I have always thought that Pearl Harbor would have had wide open coastline. However that’s not how it looks like. Three lochs share a narrow entrance, that is Pearl Harbor. The historic sites are located at east side of Pearl Harbor. Arizona and Bowfin are located on Island of Oahu (I know it sounds strange to say like this), and then Missouri and Pacific Aviation Museum are located on Ford Island.

Ford Island, owned by US Navy, lays in Middle Loch and East Loch of Pearl Harbor. Ford Island Bridge has been providing access between Oahu and Ford Island since 1998. Ferry was only way to reach Ford Island before the bridge was completed.
